Museum at Prairiefire

The Museum at Prairiefire is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to meaningful learning and engagement with science, culture, art and natural history. As well as hosting a variety of dynamic, authentic Natural History, Science and Art exhibitions, the Museum at Prairiefire offerings include regular events, interactive activities and programs for adults and children.

I-Lan Park

This 10 acre park is located at 126th Street and Nall Avenue and includes: one shelter pavilion with restrooms, one additional shelter with a grill, a trail that connects to the Leawood trail system on the east and the Overland Park trail to the west, an open play space, a playground and a beautiful Taiwanese garden and pagoda. I-lan Park is dedicated to Leawood’s sister city relationship with I-Lan, Taiwan. The park is home to one piece of public art: “Cloud Gate”.

Blue Valley Northwest

Blue Valley Northwest is a member of the Kansas State High School Activities Association and offers a variety of sports programs. Athletic teams compete in the 6A division and are known as the “Huskies”. Extracurricular activities are also offered in the form of performing arts, school publications, and clubs.

The Huskies compete in the Eastern Kansas League and are classified as a 6A-5A school according to the KSHSAA. Throughout its history, Blue Valley Northwest has won several state championships in various sports. Many graduates have gone on to participate in Division IDivision II, and Division III athletics.

Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead

Travel back in time at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead and experience life on a turn-of-the-century Kansas farm. Established in 1978, Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead is now home to nearly 250 animals (including livestock and birds of prey), vegetable and flower gardens, a fishing pond and more! Visit Helen’s Country Schoolhouse, a one-room country schoolhouse carefully designed and built to replicate its 1900 predecessor, complete with antiques and a pot-bellied stove. From there, continue the adventure at John’s Blacksmith Shop, Mining Camp, Ray’s Barber Shop and a historically accurate replica of a small Kanza Indian earthen lodge next to an 18-foot-tall tipi. Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 1-Oct. 31. Admission is $5 per person and is free after 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
